Tim Shortell raised from the button to 160,000 with the blinds now at 40,000/80,000/5,000.  Aftab threebet to 400,000.  Tim 4-bet shoved over 2.5 million total.  Aftab quickly called and tabled AcKs against Tim’s QhQd.  A King in the window and a clean board otherwise for Aftab and he’s up over 5 million chips leaving Tim down below 500,000 chips.

Aftab & Tom are fairly evenly stacked with close to 3.2 million between them, with Tim Shortell holding a almost the same as them combined.

Here they are:

Tim Shortell, who’s got the chip lead and the #PowerOfThePatch still!

Aftab raised to 130,000 chips pre-flop and Chad shoved all-in for 200,000 from the button.  Trevor Collons shoved all-in for more and he was called by Aftab.

They tabled the following: Aftab AQd; Chad AcAs; Trevor 10c10d. Other short stack Jamie lamented the scenario.  The board ran out and Chad won the main pot, while Trevor won the side pot.

But, then Jamie’s lament lightened up when Tim Shortell knocked out Trevor in 6th place when Tim’s A7 improved with a flopped A against the pre-flop Q10 dog of Trevor’s.  Trevor won $3,000 from the event with his 6th place finish.

That brought us to the Aruba bubble!  With the top 4 spots winning Aruba, the next player out would be on that bubble.  Jamie’s lament again faded away, as Chad’s pre-flop shove with 9’s ran into Aftab’s pocket Kings and boom, the bubble was popped and we have four players going to Aruba.  Chad ended up winning $4,000 cash for his efforts, so that’s still nice.

Jamie went out shortly after in 4th place and a smile on his face as he faded two other short stacks to score a $5,000 cash payday AND a $3,345 PPC Aruba World Championship package!

There are three dominant chip stacks, Tim Shortell hovering at 2 million chips, while Aftab Shakoor and Tom Gleason both have around 1.7 million chips each.  So, with that, Jamie RIchardson (approx 600k) Trevor Collon (approx 300k) and Chad Dennis (approx 200k) have just over a million combined.

Players have returned from a 10 minute break and a 1,000 unit chip color up and race-off.  The new blind level is 30,000/60,000/5,000.  Average stack is about 1,084,000.

Chad Dennis is the short stack but just doubled through Aftab.

Aftab Shakoor raised to 110,000 pre-flop and Trevor Collon called from the SB.  The flop rolled out 3c2c4h.  Trevor lead out 175,000.  Aftab raised to 400,000.  After asking to see how much Aftab had behind (667,000), Trevor tank called the additional 225,000.  The turn brought the 2s.  Trevor checked to Aftab, who shoved his 667,000.  Trevor tanked for a couple of minutes before folding 5s5h face up.  Aftab claimed that Trevor was behind, but we have no verification.

That pot brought Aftab up to over 1.7 million in chips.

Tom Kaylor shoved all-in from the button and was called by Aftab Shakoor in the small blind.  Aftab is knocking people out all over the final table.  This time Aftab’s Ace high took the pot and the elimination when Tom’s K10 didn’t improve.

Image

Howard Newman shoved all-in preflop and was called by Aftab Shakoor’s pocket Jacks.  Howard’s Ace never came calling and he’s out in 8th place with a payday of $1,700.  Next elimination will be paid $2,400.

On a very active hand, we lost Event #2 champion Bob Gruber in 9th place.  Aftab raised the blinds of 15,000/30,000/3,000 to 62,000.  Bob shoved all-in for 110,000.  Trevor called the 110k and then Tim Shortell shoved all-in for just over a million.  Trevor folded a middle pocket pair (according to him).  Aftab also folded.  Bob rolled over A10 and was dominated by Tim’s AK.  Tim flopped a K, but a flopped Q gave Bob a gutterball draw.  But it was to no avail and Bob hit the rail in 9th.

Down goes Gruber.
